If you never heard of Air Multiplier or Bladeless Fan, which is more commonly called, you need to catch up a little bit. Dyson, the creator of the well-known vacuum cleaner, has launched the world’s first bladeless fan. The fan has no blades, which means no need for a grille and it’s safe and simple to use and clean. Air is drawn into the base of the machine. The air is forced up into the loop amplifier and accelerated through the 1.3mm annular aperture, creating a jet of air that hugs the airfoil- shaped ramp.

First, you may be wondering, how does it work? The Air Multiplier works by sucking in air at the base, and pushing it out at speed high speeds through a uniform aperture in the fan’s ring. The expelled air is pushed out over an airfoil-shaped ramp, similar in shape the wing of an airplane, in so doing, the surrounding air is drawn into the jetstream and multiplied to create a uniform channel of wind that efficiently cools the room and occupants.
The technical details, for those who are more curious, are like this; the base contains and impeller that draws air into the base, that air is then forced up into the loop amplifier and is accelerated through the rotating ring (also called and annular aperture), thereby creating a jet of air. The air then passes over a 16 degree airfoil shaped ramp, channeling its direction. Then the surrounding air is drawn into the airflow - the resulting airflow is amplified by 15 times (15x), equaling 405 liters of air movement every second.
